With a couple of my dogs getting older and experiencing the very beginnings of limited mobility (due to arthritis), I'm always on the lookout for ways to ensure their quality of life. We wouldn't think of not giving a person access to a wheelchair if he couldn't walk, but very often dogs are euthanized if they become unable to use their hind legs.
Imagine my delight when I found these stories (with inspiring pictures) of dogs (and a pig -- #2 "Chris P. Bacon" of all names). The stories vary from a retired combat dog who suffered a spinal injury, a stray hit by car, to a dog shot and left on the side of the road. All of these dogs are living amazing lives, some even training to be therapy dogs.
You can check out the slideshow here (and don't miss #2, Chris P. Bacon!).
